You were never meant to be here.
João, a game designer and engineer, awakens inside the cultivation world he once helped build — not as a hero, but as something the world cannot fully understand. Depending on a single choice at the beginning of the game, he may either become integrated into the narrative itself… or remain an outside anomaly, a ghost in the code observing the story from its edges.
At the center of this world is Wei Cheng, a restrained and terrifyingly skilled cultivator who refuses to draw his blade, and Xùshēng, a fiery young disciple whose existence may threaten the stability of the Empire itself.
As imperial conspiracies unravel and ancient karmic debts surface, João must navigate a world shaped by heavenly mandates, cultivation sects, political violence, and metaphysical glitches that blur the line between fiction and reality.
✦ Features
- Branching narrative paths influenced by morality, resonance, and player interpretation.
- A three-axis system:
- Pearl Taking — determines João’s narrative role & game difficulty.
- Pearl Resonance — determines integration vs. defiance of the world’s metaphysics.
- Path Variable — determines how the world interprets João’s actions.
- Dynamic narration styles that shift according to player choices.
- Xianxia-inspired cultivation systems, sect politics, and imperial intrigue.
- Slow-burn danmei character relationships.
- Meta-fictional mechanics where emotions, resonance, and narrative structure influence reality itself.
- Glitch-inspired storytelling and diegetic “system errors.”
✦ Themes
- Fiction vs. existence
- Love, restraint, grief, and the cost of survival.
- Identity through perception
- What it means to exist in a world that may not be real.
- The fear of becoming part of a story versus the desire to belong somewhere.
- How people misunderstand each other — and how those misunderstandings shape history.
- Fate, karma, and the tension between free will and narrative roles.
✦ Inspirations
Inspired by xianxia and danmei stories, Chinese mythology and philosophy, cultivation novels, tragic court dramas, and narrative-driven RPGs. The project also draws from meta-fiction, game development culture, and stories where emotions and relationships shape reality itself.
